The extraordinarily paintable Oregon coast is known for its drama and the amazing forest and sea ecosystems stretching along its expanse. Sandy beaches, rock formations, sea caves, dunes, and miles of beach provide exquisite views and extraordinary moments of light and color. Come paint your heart out in May 2022.

Open for beginners to experienced artists
My passion and practice are exploring the power of color to create light, space, mass, dynamic movement, and feeling. For those who wish instruction this will be our focus.
You're also welcome to come and simply paint!
My demonstrations will use gouache (my favorite plein air paint), but you’re welcome to bring your own medium favorite paints or medium, or get supplied from our optional gouache kit of paint, brushes and papers. We’ll have a suggested list of supplies closer to the trip. (No acrylics or oils for painting indoors for this one, please)
We'll have ample time for relaxing, and time to discuss our work.
Non-painting spouses or partners of attendees are welcome to join us as guests for no additional workshop fees (excluding meals). You pay only for your room.
PLEASE NOTE, THE LEGAL STUFF
When you register for this workshop, you'll be sent an artist-workshop agreement to the email address under which you are registered. Both you and I will sign via Adobe e-sign, so we each have a signed copy for our records. This document states liability, and payment/deposit terms. Please return your signed copy immediately on receipt.
Travel insurance is not required for this trip. If you're flying into the area, we always recommend travel insurance, especially in these uncertain times.
We uphold all current CDC guidelines for masks, sanitation and social distancing. You must be able to show proof of vaccination to attend.
Weather can vary hugely, so be prepared for sun, wind, and rain in May.
Comfortable safe walking shoes are a good idea. Maybe a couple of pair. And I always take extra socks. There are some truly spectacular beach and old-growth forest hikes withing minutes. Come prepared so you don't miss out.
Remember your camera, phone and charger!
Bring your own travel easels, chair and gear. We will have an optional gouache paint kit which will be available closer to the workshop, if you'd like to try your hand with gouache but don't know which colors or brushes or surfaces to buy.
And a safety reminder: pay attention to tide charts and warnings. Respect the mighty power of Mother Ocean.
